Saussurea Costus ( Lappa) has thick tapering root having irregularly toothed upper leaves. Purple burdock-like flower head.it is mostly found in Himalaya (mountain) regions. Costus (Bitter) is used mostly in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicines.
