Saussurea Costus ( Lappa) has thick tapering root having irregularly toothed upper leaves. Purple burdock-like flower head.it is mostly found in Himalaya (mountain) regions. Costus (Bitter) is used mostly in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicines. Its roots have scent type fragrance that can be named as a wood fragrance. it is mostly found in China and India and nowadays it is seriously over-harvested.
